Question:
To ask the Minister for the Economy for an update on the development of an Energy Strategy for Northern Ireland.

Answer:

You will be aware a comprehensive Energy Strategy Policy Options Consultation paper was published in March 2021. This consultation received 283 responses – around four times the level of responses to the previous Strategic Energy Framework – facilitated by our extensive programme of collaboration and engagement.

Informed by the responses to the consultation, I intend to bring a new Energy Strategy to the NI Executive for approval prior to COP26.
