Question:
To ask the Minister for the Economy why travel agency businesses are considered to be outside the remit of his Department.

Answer:

Responsibility for the travel industry falls across several departments.

Throughout the pandemic I and my officials have been in regular contact with the Executive Covid Taskforce in respect of support for various sectors of the economy as the need arose for public intervention. The Executive has provided a host of schemes at various stages of the pandemic, including one for Travel Agents administered by TEO.
