Question:
To ask the Minister for the Economy to detail the preparatory work his Department is conducting ahead of the introduction of climate change legislation.

Answer:

As you will be aware DAERA lead on climate change targets, monitoring, reporting and legislation.

My Department is leading on the development of the Executive’s Energy Strategy, which will cover almost 60% of emissions and form an important part of Northern Ireland’s plan for addressing climate change.

I hope to bring the new Energy Strategy to the Executive shortly for approval.
