Question:
To ask the Minister for the Economy to detail the anticipated date when Ulster University’s Riverside Theatre will re-open for live performances.

Answer:

My Department does not have responsibility for arts or culture and does not hold responsibility, nor oversight, for this theatre. However on receipt of your question my officials sought a response, Ulster University stated:

‘The Riverside Theatre at Ulster University’s Coleraine campus has continued to host a range of cultural and arts activities and performances in the context of restrictions related to covid-19, using online and outdoor facilities.

Following the recent changes in advice relating to social distancing in theatres, the Riverside has scheduled a number of in-house public performances and workshops for the coming season and will continue to work with local and national production companies to develop a more varied programme of events to be delivered in-house, online and in other locations around the campus.
