Question:
To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (i) what quantity of waste was exported from Northern Ireland; and (ii) the cost of exporting the waste, in each of the last five years.
Answer:
I can advise you that the quantity of waste exported from Northern Ireland in each of the last five years is detailed in the table below: Waste Exported from Northern Ireland | Year | Quantity in Tonnes | 2016 | 537,924.8 | 2017 | 555,241.3 | 2018 | 591,593.6 | 2019 | 676,009.3 | 2020 | 701,764.2 | | |
I am aware that the Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA) receives certain details relating to the export of waste but this does not include the costs associated with the above exports.
