Question:
To ask the Minister of Finance, pursuant to AQW 5482/17-22, for an update on his Department’s work on amending Northern Ireland’s Building Regulations with regards to Electric Vehicle charging infrastructure, in light of EU Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (Article 8).

Answer:

Policy on electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure is the responsibility of the Department for Infrastructure (DfI). My Department has offered the use of Building Regulations as a potential legislative mechanism to assist DfI in implementing Article 8 requirements for the provision of EV charging point infrastructure for new construction or major renovation of buildings and associated car parks, should that department decide to progress in this way.
