Question:
To ask the Minister for Communities to outline (i) any conversations she has had with Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council or the Portstewart Conservation Society regarding the transfer of Portstewart Town Hall; and (ii) any involvement she has had in finding or creating a public space in Portstewart that could be used by the community as an alternative.

Answer:

My officials sought assurance that the building and its disposal do not come under section 96(5) of the 1972 Act, which governs the disposal of land at less than its market value. The Council have indicated that Section 96(5) does not apply.

Community planning partnership would provide a forum for discussion around finding or creating a public space in Portstewart that could be used by the community.
