Question:
To ask the Minister of Health what communication has taken place with nurses concerning taxation on childcare.

Answer:

As the employer it is the responsibility of HSC Trusts to advise HSC staff on issues relating to Childcare and its provision during the pandemic. The Department wrote to HSC Trusts on 18th February 2021 advising of the PAYE Settlement Agreement (PSA) for the period 1 April to 30 June 2020. The Department also liaised with HSC Trusts to ensure that each Trust has a dedicated contact email address for employee queries relating to childcare and this scheme.

I must advise however, that the PAYE Settlement Agreements are considered one-off proposals due to the wholly exceptional circumstances of the pandemic at its early outbreak in Northern Ireland.
