Question: To ask the Minister for the Economy to explain why some applicants for the High Street scheme have received cards with other people’s names printed on them.
Answer:
Cards are printed using an automated system involving a computer and camera, but if a damaged card is detected, manual intervention is required. In a small number of cases amongst the 1.4 million cards issued – the incorrect name was printed on a card following manual intervention. Once this issue was identified, improved manual quality control processes were implemented by the card provider and the Department is unaware of any further instances of such mistakes occurring.
