Question:
To ask the Minister of Health how many women, presenting at Emergency Departments or hospital Emergency Obstetric Units, with suspected miscarriages were told that they did not require medical intervention and to return home, in each year since 2017.

Answer:
It is not currently possible for HSC Trusts to provide the information on the reason for attendance at emergency departments including emergency obstetric units, in a standardised format, as the administrative systems in use do not hold diagnostic information. It is also only possible to determine miscarriage related attendances when the attendance has resulted in an admission where miscarriage has been clinically diagnosed.
