To ask the Minister of Health to detail the average annual cost of supporting a Looked After Child, broken down by placement type.

Answer:

The estimated average annual cost of supporting a Looked After Child is approximately £265,000 for a placement in a residential children’s home, within the Family and Child Care Programme of Care.

The estimated average annual cost of a foster care placement is approximately £24,000.
