Question:
To ask the Minister for Communities how the Strategy for Sport and Physical Activity Strategy is being included in all the social strategies being developed; and how she will ensure equality of access to sport and physical activity will be carried forward in her social strategies.

Answer:

work in relation to ensuring equality of access to and participation in sports and physical activity will be aligned to, and appropriately reflected within, the social inclusion strategies.

The co-design approach to the development of the new Sport and Physical Activity Strategy included engagement with over 200 stakeholders, including a broad range of representatives from Section75 Groups, and resulted in the development of key themes and goals which have direct synergies with the social strategies.

The themes focus on the need to increase participation in sport and physical activity by under-represented groups, it also highlights the importance of inclusion, partnership working and integration, as well as contributing to improved physical and mental health and well-being.
