Question:
To ask the Minister for Communities what communication she has had with councils to ensure all are taking an active role to enable her commitment for a return to sport.

Answer:

I can advise that my officials and members of SportNI have regular engagement with officers, including through the Chief Leisure Officers Association (CLOA) which represents all District Councils.

My officials have worked closely with council officers at various forums, including the Return to Sport Expert Group, the Safe Return of Spectators Working Group and the Cross Departmental COVID Working Group, to ensure a safe return of sport and physical activity.

This work has included the development of advice, guidance and return to sport protocols which ensured compliance with the public health regulations as they changed.

Officials will continue to engage with Councils to ensure that all sport and physical activity returns to full operating capacity when it is considered safe to do.
