To ask the Minister of Health for an update on the outcome of the Reshaping Stroke Care Consultation; and how this will impact upon the provision of Acute Stroke Services at the Ulster Hospital.

Answer:

My Department’s ‘Reshaping Stroke Care’ consultation received in excess of 19,000 responses. I recognise the concerns respondents from the South Eastern Trust area hold about any changes to stroke services at the Ulster Hospital.

I intend to consider those views alongside a workforce analysis, the evidence base for reform and learning from the past 18 months in reaching a decision on the way forward. I can assure you that this will take no longer than is absolutely necessary.
