Question:
To ask the First Minister and deputy First Minister what plans they have to update equality legislation, such as the Fair Employment and Treatment Order 1998, to include sexual orientation and gender identity.

Answer:

The Fair Employment and Treatment Order 1998, prescribes how fair employment monitoring is carried out.

The Department for Communities has policy responsibility for promoting the social inclusion and ensuring protection from discrimination of people on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity. Primary consideration of these issues in the context of alignment with and potential updates to wider equality legislation would therefore be a matter for the Minister for Communities.
