To ask the Minister for Communities what consideration she has given to introducing a basic income for artists, given the impact of the pandemic on the sector.

Answer:

The report of the Culture, Arts and Heritage Recovery Taskforce made reference to this issue in its chapter relating to the development of a new strategy for culture, arts and heritage. The experience of the South’s universal basic income pilot scheme, and the outcomes achieved, will be considered in the context of the work associated with that future strategy.
