Question:
To ask the Minister for Infrastructure for an update on the work to clear ivy and overgrowth from the walls and fencing on the Comber Road bridge, Killyleagh.

Answer:
In response to complaints about the condition of the steps on Comber Road Bridge, Killyleagh (known locally as Gocean Bridge), my Department cleared debris from the steps on 21 December 2021. The ivy and overgrowth attached to the bridge is not considered to be a hazard or inconvenience to pedestrians and as such my Department currently has no plans to undertake any further maintenance work. However, I have asked my officials to continue to monitor the growth on the bridge and to take steps to clear any overgrowth that is considered to represent a hazard to the public.
