Question:
To ask the Minister for Infrastructure whether she plans to bid for funds to enable a further support package to support taxi drivers affected by a downturn of trade due to COVID-19.

Answer:

I have asked my officials to continue to monitor the impact of Covid-19 on the taxi industry.

I can confirm that the taxi action plan, which was announced in September 2021 and provides additional support to the sector, remains in place. It is aimed at helping the industry to increase its capacity to meet the considerable demands on it through supporting new drivers, raising the maximum fare and providing free taximeter tests, if they are booked before the end of February 2022.
