Question: To ask the Minister for the Economy, pursuant to AQW 22273/17-22, to detail (i) any contingency plans he has developed to overcome potential food and goods shortages; and (ii) the potential steps he envisages being considered when he states in his answer that we will do all we can.
Answer:
TEO lead contingency planning for the Executive. As such a broad range of potential scenarios could ensue, any steps to mitigate would depend on the specific goods/shortages and the sectors affected. It is therefore not possible to provide potential steps to a hypothetical scenario. It is worth noting that there has been much speculation over the past number of years about shortages affecting Northern Ireland. However there has been no evidence of widespread shortages arising.
