Answer:
Financial records are not retained by my Department prior to 2009-10. However, I can provide you with a breakdown of roads maintenance capital funding bids made during monitoring rounds from 2009-10 until 2021-22, and this is detailed in the table below. Year | Monitoring Round | Bid £m | 2009-10 | September | 36 | | December | 12 | | February | 5 | 2010-11 | June | 41 | | September | 34 | 2011-12 | June | 53.5 | | October | 20 | | January | 15 | 2012-13 | June | 40 | | October | 20.5 | | January | 18 | 2013-14 | June | 61 | | October | 40 | | January | 9 | 2014-15 | June | 80.1 | | October | 45 | 2015-16 | November | 23 | 2016-17 | June | 40 | 2017-18 | December | 13 | | January | 11.5 | 2018-19 | June | 25 | | October | 17 | | January | 11 | 2019-20 | September | 10 | 2020-21 | October | 4.5 |
The capacity of my Department to deliver road schemes is influenced by the capacity within both our design teams and contractors within a given financial year. In relation to the current year, 2021-22, the capital budget currently being spent by my Department represents the largest ever capital budget. Following legal challenges to the award of Structural Maintenance contracts and a re-assessment of progress on the development of the interim procurement strategy, the capacity of our internal and external resources and the need to ensure all current capital programmes are delivered by 31 March 2022, no further bids were put forward for structural maintenance this financial year.
