To ask the Minister for Infrastructure (i) whether the protocol for engagement with local councils regarding called-in applications has been changed recently; and (ii) the rationale for the change.

Answer:

The procedural guidance on the call in process, which includes the process for calling in applications from local councils, can be found in the Department’s Development Management Practice Note 13, “Notification and CalI in of Applications”, published in May 2016. Neither the published guidance nor the relevant legislation has been amended so as to change the protocol for engagement with local councils regarding called-in applications.
