To ask the Minister of Health for his assessment of the adequacy of travel grants available for medical students on placement.

Answer:

The Department continues to work with stakeholders, including the two local medical schools and student representatives, to ensure that the system of travel and subsistence support provided by the Department when medical students are on clinical placements is affordable, represents value for money, reflects changes in delivery of the medical curriculums and is fair in comparison to the other healthcare professions.
