Question:
To ask the Minister for the Economy, in light of rising fuel and energy costs, what consideration he has given to creating a fuel taskforce.

Answer:

The Department for Communities has lead responsibility for fuel poverty.

The Energy Strategy Action Plan which was published on 20 January 2022 sets out the Executive’s intention to establish a cross-departmental steering group, chaired by DfC, to develop and deliver actions to reduce fuel poverty.

This will include short-term initiatives, joining up existing support, and improved data and measurement towards alleviating fuel poverty for individuals and communities. The work of this group will inform the development of a new fuel poverty strategy.
