Question: To ask the Minister for Communities to detail the number of (i) households; and (ii) individuals, currently in Housing Executive temporary housing in each constituency.
Answer:
The Housing Executive has advised that they do not record data by Parliamentary constituency but record data on the basis of local Council Area. As of 2 March 2022, there are 1,766 categorised as single person households and 1,831 categorised as households of 2 or more persons currently in Temporary Accommodation placements. The table below outlines the breakdown of these total 3,597 placements in terms of Council Area as of 2 March 2022: Temporary Accommodation Placements made from Council Areas as of 2 March 2022 | Council Area | Single Person Households | Other householdsof 2 or more persons | Antrim & Newtownabbey | 63 | 38 | Ards & North Down | 62 | 88 | Armagh, Banbridge& Craigavon | 69 | 82 | Belfast | 743 | 1,122 | Causeway & Glens | 69 | 23 | Derry & Strabane | 330 | 215 | Fermanagh & Omagh | 94 | 29 | Lisburn & Castlereagh | 102 | 76 | Mid and East Antrim | 83 | 34 | Mid Ulster | 29 | 42 | Newry & Down | 122 | 82 | Total | 1,766 | 1,831 |
Notes The numbers cited refer to the local Council Area from which the placement was made rather than the local Council Area in which the placement was made to. Depending on the requirements of the applicant and the accommodation available at the time, placements may be made outside the Council Area in which the application was made. It should also be noted that data provided is taken from a “live” dataset and may be subject to change on a daily basis. They may not therefore align with any figures that may be published in due course.
