To ask the Minister for Infrastructure to outline the process for individuals and community groups who want to improve areas (i) under her Department’s ownership; and (ii) where ownership cannot be determined.

Answer:

Individuals or community groups wishing to improve areas of the road network by the provision and maintenance of planting, are required to enter into an agreement with the Department as set out in ‘RSPPG E004 - Privately Funded Planting of Roundabouts, Road Verges and Car Parks’. The situation is more complex where ownership or control cannot be determined and I would suggest that you engage with the local Divisional Roads Manager on any specific locations you have in mind.
