Question: To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs whether he has any plans to review veterinary charges for domestic animals.
Answer:
The charges applied for the provision of veterinary services to any animal are a matter for the private veterinary practitioner concerned. My Department has no role in regulating this sector. Veterinary pricing practices must, however, comply with consumer protection law and the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons advises veterinarians to be open, honest and clear about charges for veterinary treatment.
