Question:
To ask the Minister of Education how many children will not be provided with classroom assistance, as assigned to them as part of their statement, broken down by primary and post-primary provision.

Answer:
The Education Authority (EA) may make an allocation of additional adult assistance hours to a school to assist staff in meeting the objectives outlined in Part 3 of a child’s Statement of Special Educational Needs (SEN).
The recruitment of SEN staff within schools is, however, the responsibility of individual Boards of Governors. Neither the Department nor the EA, are therefore able to provide this information.
