Question:
To ask the Minister of Education whether there is scope to amend the eligibility criteria for home to school transport to be flexible in relation to the qualifying distance.

Answer:
The statutory walking distances, for the purposes of Home to School Transport, are set out in The Education and Libraries (NI) Order 1986. No changes to the legislation can be considered until a review of the current transport policy is undertaken and any changes to that policy will need to follow due process, including a public consultation.
A review of the current policy is on hold pending the outcome of the Independent Review of Education.
