Question:
To ask the Assembly Commission when a facility to provide subtitles during Assembly debates and Committee meetings will be available to Members via Starleaf.

Answer:

The StarLeaf system used by Members to make remote contributions to Committee meetings and Plenary sittings does not currently support automatic captioning and has no plans to do so.

Assembly Commission officials will continue to monitor developments with the current supplier and the wider market, to determine the feasibility of ‘real time’ subtitling Assembly debates and committee meetings for Members.

It is however worth noting that continuous transmission of Assembly proceedings is now available via the headphones in the Chamber during Assembly business.
