Question:
To ask the Minister for the Economy whether his Department has plans to review the rollout of smart meters in Northern Ireland.

Answer:

The Energy Strategy – Path to Net Zero Energy - Action plan published in January 2022 commits to delivering the following action this year:

Action Plan 20: “Carry out a cost benefit analysis of electricity and gas smart meters and other technologies in order to access half-hourly and daily consumption information”.

Planning for the Cost Benefit Analysis is underway with the intention of completion by the end of this year. I will review the recommendations thereafter.
