Question: To ask the Minister of Health, pursuant to AQW 1264-22/27, how many people live with COPD in each Health and Social Care Trust.
Answer:
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is one of the disease registers in the Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF); QOF disease prevalence data is published annually and the COPD register contains the number of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. As at 31st March 2022, the most recent data available, there were 41,283 people on the COPD register. QOF data is not broken down by Health and Social Care Trust, but can be broken down by Local Commissioning Group (LCG); this data is shown in Table 1 overleaf. Further information on QOF disease prevalence data is available at: https://www.health-ni.gov.uk/articles/prevalence-statistics. Table 1 Number of people on the COPD register, by LCG, at 31st March 2022. LCG | Number of people on the QOF COPD Register, 31st March 2022 | Belfast | 10,417 | South Eastern | 5,892 | Northern | 9,856 | Southern | 7,621 | Western | 7,497 | Northern Ireland | 41,283 |
