Question:
To ask the Minister for Infrastructure to detail the timescale for updating the Highway Code.

Answer:

The Northern Ireland Highway Code is the official guide for all citizens here with regards to using our roads safely and legally. The code is periodically updated to take account of changes in legislation or new developments in the field of road safety. As minister I take my responsibility for road safety very seriously, and have to consider the best way to use available resources to meet the needs of all road users, and to ensure that changes are managed in a way that they are clearly understood, reflect local needs and secure support from a wide range of road users. I am therefore unable to give a timescale for the update of the Highway Code at this point.
