Question:
To ask the Minister for Infrastructure to outline the methodology for the implementation of sectoral plans for transport which set a minimum spend of 10% on active travel from the overall transport budgets.

Answer:

The introduction of the Climate Change Act (NI) 2022 and the requirement for all Departments to set out policies and proposals within climate action plans to meet the 2050 net zero targets presents us with a real opportunity to address the climate emergency.

My Department is working internally and collaboratively with DAERA in the development of the sectoral plans required by the Act including determining how the specific measures which set a minimum spend of 10% on active travel from the overall transport budgets can be met.
