Question:
To ask the Minister of Health what action is currently being taken by his Department to identify cases of Crohn's disease and Colitis.

Answer:

Patients with symptoms which are indicative to Crohn’s disease or Colitis can be referred by their GP or a doctor in secondary care (including Emergency Departments to any Health & Social Care Trust in Northern Ireland. These patients will be triaged and seen by a consultant and, subsequently, appropriate diagnostic procedures will be arranged and carried out.
