Question:
To ask the Minister for Infrastructure whether he intends to revise his Department’s policy on 30mph speed limit repeater signs to take into account local road safety concerns.

Answer:
There are no plans to change the policy on the provision of 30mph repeater signs, which uses the presence of street lights to indicate that there is a 30 mph (48 km/h) speed limit, unless otherwise signed. This approach is well understood as in the 2019/20 Continuous Household Survey, 90% of respondents correctly identified that the presence of streetlights indicates that the speed limit is generally 30mph.
