Question:
To ask the Minister for Infrastructure for an update on the progress of the cycle lane on the Cavehill Road, including engagement with (i) residents; (ii) local stakeholders; and (iii) local cycling campaign groups.

Answer:

I am very keen to support sustainable transport options that connect communities, tackle the impact of climate change and improve lives.

Following initial objections to the construction of Phase 1 of the pop-up Cycle Lane on the Limestone Road, I have asked my officials to review the scheme and initiate a new consultation process with residents, local stakeholders and local cycling campaign groups. This will also include the proposal for Cavehill Road between Antrim Road and Westland Road.

My officials advise that they hope to be in a position to commence this new consultation this Autumn.
