Question:
To ask the Minister of Health to detail what plans he has to make baby heel prick tests for spinal muscular atrophy available through the Health Service.

Answer:
The UK National Screening Committee (UK NSC) advises ministers across the UK on making decisions related to screening and spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) is included in the list of conditions that they regularly review. Based on evidence considered by the UK NSC in 2018, the Committee does not currently recommend screening for this condition.
