Question:
To ask the Minister for the Economy for an update on the development of an Off Shore Energy Strategy.

Answer:

My Department is leading an Offshore Renewable Energy Action Plan (OREAP) Steering Group. We are working with key partners to address the barriers and accelerate offshore wind deployment in Northern Ireland to happen by 2030 if practicably possible.

As the Energy Strategy Action Plan 2022 sets out, the OREAP will deliver 1GW of offshore wind from 2030.

We will publish the roadmap to Offshore Renewable Energy deployment for Northern Ireland this year, and a more detailed Action Plan in 2023.
