To ask the Minister of Health what consideration is being given to a full Mesh Surgery Reimbursement Fund.

Answer:

There are no plans at this time to establish a full Mesh Surgery Reimbursement Fund in Northern Ireland. My Department’s position remains that patients requiring full mesh removal surgery have access to local services. Consultants at the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust are trained in full mesh removal. In exceptional circumstances where local management is not appropriate, patients may be offered access specialist treatment options through the extra-contractual referral process.
