To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs to provide an update on the establishment of the independent office, known as the Northern Ireland Climate Commissioner, as required by the Climate Change Act (Northern Ireland) 2022.

Answer:

As stipulated in section 50 of the Climate Change Act (Northern Ireland) 2022, responsibility for the establishment of the independent office, known as the Northern Ireland Climate Commissioner, rests with the Executive Office (TEO).
