To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs what engagement he has had with animal welfare charities in relation to animal welfare issues caused by unexpected firework noise and pollution.

Answer:

At this time of year, my Department issues guidance on the steps that can be taken to minimise the impact firework activity can have on animals. Its messaging is, where possible, co-ordinated with that of animal welfare charities.

Engagement is ongoing between my Department and the Ulster Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals to co-ordinate the messaging issued to the public this Halloween.
