Question:
To ask the Minister of Finance what consideration he has given to making it mandatory for all new-build houses to include renewable energy sources, such as solar panels.

Answer:
An interim uplift of the Department’s Technical Booklet guidance to Part F (Conservation of fuel and power) of the Building Regulations was published in March 2022.
This uplift supports regulation 43B (Nearly zero-energy requirements for new buildings) and has been carefully set so that on-site renewables, such as solar panels, are expected to form a key component of new houses subject to a building regulations application made from 30th June 2022.
