To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (i) what engagement he has had with his UK counterparts on the Global Ocean Alliance 30by30 initiative; and (ii) what assurance he received from the UK Government that it will deliver on the commitments made under this initiative.

Answer:

I have had no direct engagement with my UK counterparts regarding the Global Ocean Alliance 30by30 initiative.

My officials are in regular communication with Defra officials regarding preparations for COP15, and in leading the Global Ocean Alliance 30by30 initiative, the UK is playing a leading role in negotiating for the target of at least 30% of the global ocean under protection by 2030.
