To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs for his assessment of the impact of the increase in household bills on pet welfare.

Answer:

I recognise the significant financial pressures households currently face and the potential for this to impact on pet welfare.

My Department has ongoing engagement with animal welfare organisations and local councils. This will ensure that it keeps abreast of any animal welfare issues that may arise as a result of rising household bills.
