Question:
To ask the Minister for the Economy whether his Department is considering options to reform energy tariffing arrangements to ensure future network costs are charged in a manner that is fairer for all customers.

Answer:
Regulation of energy tariffs is a matter for the Utility Regulator who undertakes price controls on regulated entities, including the System Operator for Northern Ireland (SONI) and NIE Networks to ensure the consumer receives value for money.
NIE Networks, as the owner of the transmission and distribution network, has launched a consultation on its investment proposals for the next price control period, 2025-2031.
The Utility Regulator has also commenced a review on connection charging policy in Northern Ireland and intends to consult on the matter later this year.
