To ask the Minister for the Economy what recent discussions he has had with his UK Government counterparts on the potential impact of lifting the ban on fracking in England will have on the UK’s target of reaching net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

Answer:

There have been no discussions with UK government counterparts on this issue as the decision on fracking applies to England only. It will be up to a Northern Ireland Executive Committee to determine local onshore petroleum licensing policy.
