To ask the Minister for Infrastructure to outline the timescales for commencement and implementation of Reservoirs Act (NI) 2015.

Answer:

As you will be aware, my Department received statutory responsibility for the Reservoirs Act (NI) 2015 in June 2021. A number of sections of the Act commenced following Royal Assent in 2015; however, the remaining sections covering the main provisions of the Act can only commence through secondary legislation in the form of commencement orders and regulations, with the approval of the Assembly. It is anticipated that this will be progressed in the new Assembly Legislative Mandate and once complete my Department will then consider timescales for implementation.
