Question:
To ask the Minister for the Economy why he has not included sustainable tidal energy production in his Energy Strategy.

Answer:

My department is working towards a target of 80% of electricity consumption coming from a diverse range of renewable generating technologies by 2030.

The Energy Strategy does not define which renewable electricity generating technologies will be used to achieve this target, allowing the most efficient solutions that provide locally produced, affordable, renewable energy for consumers to be brought forward.
