Question:
To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs what discussions he has had with the Minister for Infrastructure on (i) the contribution of allotments to communities; and (ii) the steps to take to promote allotments through the planning system.

Answer:

I have had no specific discussions with the Minister for Infrastructure relating to the contribution of allotments to communities or their promotion through the planning system. My Department has however provided funding through the Rural Development Programme to Rural Partnerships in support of planning and development of allotments in the Lagan Valley and Plumbridge areas.
