Question:
To ask the Minister for Communities to detail what work she has undertaken to create a minimum income for artists programme, similar to that in the Republic of Ireland.

Answer:

I am aware of the Basic Income for the Arts (BIA) programme currently being piloted in the Republic of Ireland. I am interested to see further reports on impacts, both in relation to individual artists and to the sector as whole. Any future commitment as regards a similar scheme for Northern Ireland would depend on robust supporting evidence and funding availability.
